Milwaukee, WI (December 21, 2009) - Large crowds of brew-town locals joined Makita in making their way to the historic Milwaukee Mile for the inaugural ISOC/ASCC National Snocross event on the shores of Lake Michigan.

Makita is a co-sponsor of Scheuring Speed Sports, a snocross team led by Robbie Malinoski and Joe Fallen.  Both racers competed in the event.

On the track, Robbie Malinoski continued to be a force in the Pro class, while rookie Semi-Pro rider Joe Fallen scored the team’s first podium of the season. Fallen showed continued improvement, racing at the head of his class for much of the weekend. In Friday’s final he was dropped back to fourth before making a determined pass to regain his podium finish.

Malinoski was once again one of the riders to beat in Pro Stock qualifying, going 2-3 in the preliminary rounds to earn the number three overall starting spot on the 20 man grid. At the start of the main, Robbie was pushed to the outer edge of the first turn before rejoining the leaders in third. At one point he fell back as far as 9th, but then put in an impressive charge in the closing laps to gain the fourth overall.

Teammate Andrew Johnstad was the first rider to miss the cut for the front row for the second straight week. Unfortunately, the last chance race did not fare any better as Johnstad failed to qualify for the main. While he expressed that he could not be happier with the team and equipment, Andrew admitted to struggling with the transition to his new surroundings and is maybe pressing a little too much too soon.

Saturday’s Pro Open brought a new look for Johnstad as he checked out on a qualifying moto, fronting the team’s 3 and 4 positions at the head of the main event lineup. The feature race brought more of the same from Malinoski as he battled at the front of the pack before claiming yet another fourth overall. Johnstad was riding at a much improved pace in seventh, before getting turned over while making a pass for sixth.

Next event: January 9, Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah.

Versus coverage of Round 2 , January 10, 2010 - 4 p.m. EST
